Not Just a Divorce™

Understanding the Hidden Trauma of Betrayal-Related Divorce

A Live Professional Training

August 28, 2026 | 9am-12pm PM ET | Live Online | $149

For therapists, coaches, clergy, attorneys, mediators, divorce professionals, and others supporting individuals navigating betrayal and divorce.

When Betrayal and Divorce Collide, It Isn't Just a Divorce.

A client going through divorce after intimate betrayal may walk into your office overwhelmed, hypervigilant, angry, indecisive, unable to organize information, or struggling to communicate clearly.

From the outside, those responses can be misread.

They may appear difficult when actually overwhelmed.

They may repeat themselves trying to make sense of conflicting realities.

They may struggle to make decisions while simultaneously being expected to make some of the most consequential financial, legal, and parenting decisions in life.

And when the professionals surrounding them don't understand the impact of betrayal trauma, the very systems intended to help can inadvertently make an already devastating experience harder.

This is not just a divorce.

What You'll Learn

In this live professional training, we'll explore what changes when intimate betrayal and relational trauma intersect with separation and divorce.

You'll learn:

  • How betrayal trauma can affect cognition, communication, emotional regulation, and decision-making

  • Why betrayed partners may present differently than other divorce clients

  • Behaviors professionals may mistakenly interpret as difficult, resistant, unstable, or high-conflict

  • How trauma can influence a client's ability to organize information and prepare for legal or financial decisions

  • Communication strategies that help clients remain more regulated and effective

  • Ways professionals can provide trauma-informed support while remaining within their professional role

  • Practical considerations for supporting clients navigating betrayal, separation, and divorce

Who Is This Training For?

This training was created for professionals who encounter betrayal-related divorce in their work, including:

Therapists • Coaches • Divorce Coaches • Attorneys • Mediators • Clergy & Pastoral Counselors • Support Group Leaders • Other Divorce Professionals

You do not need to specialize in betrayal trauma to benefit from this training.

In fact, that's precisely why this conversation matters.

Why I Created Not Just a Divorce™

My work sits at the intersection of betrayal trauma, relationship recovery, therapeutic disclosure, and divorce.

Over the years, I have watched clients enter the divorce process carrying not only the grief of a relationship ending, but also the physiological and psychological impact of discovering that significant parts of their relational reality were not what they believed them to be.

At the same time, I've seen caring, competent professionals struggle to understand why these clients may present differently.

Not Just a Divorce™ was created to help bridge that gap.

The goal isn't to turn every divorce professional into a betrayal-trauma specialist. It is to give professionals a framework for recognizing what they may be seeing—and practical ways to respond more effectively.
